Ever had your post mis-delivered? I have and all too often. The entrance to my flat is so difficult to find that new post men or delivery drivers tend to deliver to the flat upstairs and ignore the sign I have written giving directions to my door.

This slightly boring intro brings me to my point, my neighbour is moving out and came around earlier to hand over a pile of very dusty mail. Amongst the unwanted credit card and gas bills was a little package containing nail polish! What a surprise it was to find that the lovely people at HJ Manicure had sent me some polish, albeit a long time ago (thank you). I will take this opportunity to apologise to them for the delay of this post.

So onto the polish bit. HJ Manicure creates toxic free, vegan friendly, cruelty free & 5-free polishes. Their bottles are large (containing 15ml of product) which makes them very cost effective. I was sent 2 polishes for review, Strawberry Daiquiri and Candy Pink. The bottles of these are so unique and a great shape to hold when painting. The top is a good size and the brush is long and thin, which makes it perfect for nails of all shapes.

Strawberry Daiquiri is a stunningly bright red creme. It does remind me of strawberries, so much so that if it contained small black glitters I would think that it contained real crushed fruit. The formula of this polish is one of the best I have tried, it's smooth and applies so easily. I could go on and on about the amazingness of this polish but it can only be believed by trying it out yourself. Suffice to say it has now beaten Butter London's Pillar Box Red to top red polish spot. I used 2 coats and a topcoat for the photo below.

Candy Pink is a fun bright pink creme. Again the formula was incredible, I really wish all polishes had a formula of this quality. I used 2 coats and a topcoat for the photos below.

I can not pick a favourite from the 2 I was sent and that says a lot as any pink polish would usually win above a red. It's the quality of strawberry daiquiri that can't be beaten, making it my fave red polish of all time.

These polishes are available to buy from HJ Manicure's website for £9.50 each. This is a brand I would highly recommend to any nail polish user as the quality is well above the price tag. Go and grab yours now before they realise!

Barry M Christmas 2014 Limited Edition Nail Paints

Merry Christmas ... uh what?
Although it is only the 1st October, many shops have had their Christmas stock out for a few weeks and now we have the first of Barry M's beautiful 5 Christmas Limited Editions for 2014. I have to admit that the change in season usually signals the start of my Christmas countdown, but this year we have been experiencing a rather warm autumn so I am not quite 'there' yet. However once the chilly, crisp days start rolling in, I am so going to start my Christmas shopping!

Barry M have released 2 exclusive Limited Edition nail paints for Boots. These are the first Barry M nail paints that contain star glitter and I love them! They have also named them with a starry twist which is so fun of Barry M. I like that they have started taking a few more risks with their naming, however I would have like them to be more Christmassy! ... I know, I'm never happy :)

Moonlight is a gorgeous glittery mix of silver, gold & magenta. There are the odd shaped magenta pieces that appeared in Atlantis (see swatch here), lots of different sized silver/holo hex shaped glitters, silver bar glitter, large gold hex glitter and silver/holo stars.

Barry M Moonlight, Boots Christmas 2014 Limited Edition

For this swatch I used 1 coat over Barry M Orchid (see new Silk Swatches here). This polish has a great glitter pay off and although the stars are big, they come out of the bottle easily. I did place a couple onto the nail but only so I had an even spread.

I also added a matte topcoat as I love glitter with a matte topcoat.

Here is Moonlight over silver, gold, poppy, forest, coconut and black.

Starlight is even more beautiful with the perfect mix of silver & gold holo glitters. It looks almost pastel-like because of the strong holo-ness! There are micro and large silver/holo hex glitter, large gold/holo hex glitter and silver/holo star glitters. WOW!

Again I used 1 coat over Barry M Orchid from the new Silks. I placed a couple of stars but that was only because I was being picky again.

I can not wait to see the 2 Superdrug Limited Editions, being released on the 22nd October.

Barry M Glitterati Swatches & Review

Tuesday, 30 September 2014

So today I have the very sparkly, Glitterati collection from Barry M for you, which was release last week on the 24th September. Ever since I saw this 6 piece in the A/W 2014 Look Book I have been itching to get my hands on it. Barry M do glitter polishes incredibly well and these are no exception.

They do remind me a little of Models Own Velvet Goth collection in their finish, however these are shearer which means they can be layered over other colours to create a stunning finish. They also have softer colours. Each polish contains a combination of iridescent & holographic glitters in a coloured jelly base. I have swatched these over a solid base colour which is as similar as possible to the jelly base of these nail paints. They dry to a semi matte finish, which is how I left it for the photos. However they also look incredible with a glossy topcoat.

Starlet has a bright pink coloured jelly base. I wore 1 coat over Barry M Grapefruit, no topcoat.

Socialite has a pink toned lilac jelly base. I wore 1 coat over Barry M Gold Topped Boots Limited Edition, no topcoat.

Fashion Icon has a purple jelly base with a slight blue duochrome effect to the glitters. I wore 1 coat of this over the gorgeous Barry M Vivid Purple, no topcoat.

Rockstar has a black jelly base. I wore 1 coat over Barry M Black, no topcoat.

Overall I adore these glitters. They shimmer like nothing else Barry M has released and I'm not sure how we ever did without them. My favourite is Fashion Icon, an easy decision but to be honest I need them all in my life!

You can buy these now from Superdrug, or from Boots (as of the 1st October) for £3.99.

Which is your fave? How do you wear your Glitterati's?

Barry M - New Silk Nail Paints in Forest, Poppy & Orchid

Friday, 26 September 2014

My 2nd instalment from Barry M's recent releases are the Silks. The 6 previous silks have such a subtle palette that it's nice to see Barry M injecting a little bit more 'mood' into this collection. The finish on these is indeed very silky or some might say 'velvet'. I personally love the finish, however my desire to wear a topcoat for both longevity & fast drying time means I can't wear these successfully in their intended state .... I tried and before I knew it had crease marks & jumper print on my nails!

First up is Forest. This is an intensely deep jungle green which leans bluer in photos. You can see the shade the camera captures at the edge of the bottle. It's so rich on the nail. I used 2 coats for the photos below. It has a slight 'grainy' look to the finish which comes from the pigment having a slight duochrome tendency and a shimmer in 1, but either way its beautiful.

Poppy is another 'grainy', slightly duochrome/shimmery silk. The deep burgundy colour of this reminds me of mulled wine or Christmas Poinsettias and it's the perfect shade for winter as it makes your skin appear more tan. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Barry M Poppy, Silk Collection

Last up is Orchid ... what a stunner this colour is. They got the name spot on here, this is Pantone's colour of the year 2014 'Radiant Orchid' in a bottle. I adore this polish, it's smooth, beautiful and indeed radiant on the nail. There's no 'grainy' finish to this which makes it even more special. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall what is not to like from these 3, the colours & finish are perfect. Although I would have liked to see more wintry style names like Pine Tree & Poinsettia instead but that is me being picky!

I bought these for £3.99 each from Superdrug (& got another free Show Girl Mascara worth £4.99, my lashes are set for the rest of the year). They will be released on the 1st October in Boots as well.

What do you think of these new silks? Which is your fave?

Barry M - Persian & Atlantis from the Aquarium Collection

Thursday, 25 September 2014

From the 14 new Barry M nail paints released yesterday the 2 new Aquarium additions had me most excited. I love duochromes ... and glitters actually, and the rich jewel tones that paired these 2 is just divine. The Aquarium collection is possibly my fave ever from Barry M. To see the amazingness of the other 6 nail paints in this collection click here.

Atlantis is the most scrumptious combination of glitters that I think Barry M has created. There are magenta & teal diamonds, random shaped magenta glitters and large & small silver holo glitters in a clear base. This is 1 coat over Persian and although there was no need to fish for glitters, they did tend to clump a little.

Persian is the 5th duochrome in the Aquarium collection and possibly my fave. Theres something about a deep purple to gold shift thats so stunning. I used 1 coat over black for this swatch. I tend to always put a black base coat on before wearing duochromes as their formula tends to be quite thin and it can take a few coats to build up the colour. However when applied over black its immediately intense.

I brought these polishes from Superdrug for £3.99 each and because of the amazing deal they have on at the minute I got a free Show Girl masacara worth £4.99. These will also launch next week on the 1st October in Boots and are available to buy from many websites.

What do you think about these new Aquarium nail paints? Have you already got them or are they on your to buy list?

P.S. I forgot to watermark this photos ... I'll know if anyone steals them though! ;)
