Barry M Glitterati Swatches & Review

Press Sample

So today I have the very sparkly, Glitterati collection from Barry M for you, which was release last week on the 24th September. Ever since I saw this 6 piece in the A/W 2014 Look Book I have been itching to get my hands on it. Barry M do glitter polishes incredibly well and these are no exception.

They do remind me a little of Models Own Velvet Goth collection in their finish, however these are shearer which means they can be layered over other colours to create a stunning finish. They also have softer colours. Each polish contains a combination of iridescent & holographic glitters in a coloured jelly base. I have swatched these over a solid base colour which is as similar as possible to the jelly base of these nail paints. They dry to a semi matte finish, which is how I left it for the photos. However they also look incredible with a glossy topcoat.

Starlet has a bright pink coloured jelly base. I wore 1 coat over Barry M Grapefruit, no topcoat.

Socialite has a pink toned lilac jelly base. I wore 1 coat over Barry M Gold Topped Boots Limited Edition, no topcoat.

Fashion Icon has a purple jelly base with a slight blue duochrome effect to the glitters. I wore 1 coat of this over the gorgeous Barry M Vivid Purple, no topcoat.

Overall I adore these glitters. They shimmer like nothing else Barry M has released and I'm not sure how we ever did without them. My favourite is Fashion Icon, an easy decision but to be honest I need them all in my life!

You can buy these now from Superdrug, or from Boots (as of the 1st October) for £3.99.

Which is your fave? How do you wear your Glitterati's?

Barry M - New Silk Nail Paints in Forest, Poppy & Orchid

Friday, 26 September 2014

My 2nd instalment from Barry M's recent releases are the Silks. The 6 previous silks have such a subtle palette that it's nice to see Barry M injecting a little bit more 'mood' into this collection. The finish on these is indeed very silky or some might say 'velvet'. I personally love the finish, however my desire to wear a topcoat for both longevity & fast drying time means I can't wear these successfully in their intended state .... I tried and before I knew it had crease marks & jumper print on my nails!

First up is Forest. This is an intensely deep jungle green which leans bluer in photos. You can see the shade the camera captures at the edge of the bottle. It's so rich on the nail. I used 2 coats for the photos below. It has a slight 'grainy' look to the finish which comes from the pigment having a slight duochrome tendency and a shimmer in 1, but either way its beautiful.

Poppy is another 'grainy', slightly duochrome/shimmery silk. The deep burgundy colour of this reminds me of mulled wine or Christmas Poinsettias and it's the perfect shade for winter as it makes your skin appear more tan. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Last up is Orchid ... what a stunner this colour is. They got the name spot on here, this is Pantone's colour of the year 2014 'Radiant Orchid' in a bottle. I adore this polish, it's smooth, beautiful and indeed radiant on the nail. There's no 'grainy' finish to this which makes it even more special. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall what is not to like from these 3, the colours & finish are perfect. Although I would have liked to see more wintry style names like Pine Tree & Poinsettia instead but that is me being picky!

I bought these for £3.99 each from Superdrug (& got another free Show Girl Mascara worth £4.99, my lashes are set for the rest of the year). They will be released on the 1st October in Boots as well.

What do you think of these new silks? Which is your fave?

Barry M - Persian & Atlantis from the Aquarium Collection

Thursday, 25 September 2014

From the 14 new Barry M nail paints released yesterday the 2 new Aquarium additions had me most excited. I love duochromes ... and glitters actually, and the rich jewel tones that paired these 2 is just divine. The Aquarium collection is possibly my fave ever from Barry M. To see the amazingness of the other 6 nail paints in this collection click here.

Atlantis is the most scrumptious combination of glitters that I think Barry M has created. There are magenta & teal diamonds, random shaped magenta glitters and large & small silver holo glitters in a clear base. This is 1 coat over Persian and although there was no need to fish for glitters, they did tend to clump a little.

Persian is the 5th duochrome in the Aquarium collection and possibly my fave. Theres something about a deep purple to gold shift thats so stunning. I used 1 coat over black for this swatch. I tend to always put a black base coat on before wearing duochromes as their formula tends to be quite thin and it can take a few coats to build up the colour. However when applied over black its immediately intense.

I brought these polishes from Superdrug for £3.99 each and because of the amazing deal they have on at the minute I got a free Show Girl masacara worth £4.99. These will also launch next week on the 1st October in Boots and are available to buy from many websites.

What do you think about these new Aquarium nail paints? Have you already got them or are they on your to buy list?

P.S. I forgot to watermark this photos ... I'll know if anyone steals them though! ;)

Barry M Autumn/Winter 2014 New Releases

Friday, 19 September 2014

OMG, I actually can not contain my excitement while I write this post. After announcing that 8 new Barry M nail paints were going to be released on my Instagram feed earlier after snooping around the internet, I have continued my digging and came across Barry M's Autumn/Winter 2014 Look Book published on ISSUU. Have a look at it here to see all the other amazing new Barry M products.

I am the biggest Barry M fan and have over 200 of their nail paints, past and present so I am thrilled that there is going to be another 19 new nail paints released before 2014 is out! If you're interested in seeing a list of my Barry M nail paints, this link will take you to my stash spreadsheet.

The first page on nail paints in the look book is so delicious, showing 3 rich, gem toned new Silk's. Their names are Orchid, Forest & Poppy. These are out in Superdrug on the 24th September and in Boots on the 1st October priced at £3.99.

The next page shows the AW Gellys ... old news now I know but I wanted to include it. (see my review of these nail paints here).

Then we come to the stunning Glitterati Collection, 6 new glitters that are also out on the 24th September in Superdrug and on the 1st October in Boots priced at £3.99. I may have already ordered these online from Bank Fashion because I couldn't wait.

From the following page we can see that there will be 3 new additions to the classic nail paint line, Nightshade, Ballerina & Vintage Violet. There will also be another 2 beautiful Aquarium nail paints released (which is by far my fave collection to date from Barry m, see my review here). A duochrome called Persian and a glitter topper called Atlantis. These are all out on the 24th September in Superdrug and on the 1st October in Boots priced at £2.99 for the classic nail paints and £3.99 for the Aquarium nail paints.

Now onto the Christmas Limited Editions! The Christmas season is my favourite time of year and every year its made all the better thanks to Barry M's special releases. There will be 5 new Christmas nail paints released this year ... 5!! Moonlight & Starlight will be launching in Boots on the 1st October. Christmas Tree and Jingle Bells will be launching in Superdrug on the 22nd October and then for the first time ever Tesco will have a part to play in the festivities by offering us Twilight, which is launching on the 22nd September. All 5 are priced at £3.99 and most of them contain a mix of glitters including star shaped glitter! HO HO HO Barry M!

So that's it. Is anyone else super excited. On reflection I really think Barry M have saved the best of their releases for the end of the year! I can not wait to get my hands on Persian and Christmas Tree, although I will of course scoop these all up, on the day they are released ... such is my obsession!

Which new nail paints are you most excited for? Which ones will you be buying?

Barry M A/W 2014 Tribal Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints

Saturday, 6 September 2014

So today I have swatches and a review of the new-ish Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints which have been named by Barry M as the 'Tribal' capsule collection. I actually like the name, it's very fitting with the colours and although none of them super excite me (I like bold rainbow colours) I have developed a soft spot for Barry M's slightly duller hues this year.

First up is Chai, a lovely stormy blue tinted grey, 2 coats with topcoat.

Cardamom is a lovely pine tree green. I used 2 coats with topcoat for the photos.

Mustard is Barry M's first foray into yellow in their Gelly range and it did not disappoint. Although the colour is not one I am a massive fan of I do like it. I used 2 coats with topcoat for the photos.

Paprika is a yummy warm toned gingery orange. I love this colour a lot! I use 2 coats with topcoat for the photos.

Chilli is a stunning red with a slight brown undertone. I think the red pigment must be really easy to mix with these Gelly bases as the formula was stunning (like Blood Orange and the red gel style polishes from Models Own). I used 2 coats with topcoat for the photos.

Cocoa is the final shade. I have to say this is the most interesting from the bunch. Its a plum toned chocolate brown which is bea-u-tiful! I used 2 coats with topcoat for the photos.

Barry M Cocoa Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint

Overall these are amazing, the formula seems easier to work with than previous Gelly Nail Paints and I like that there are 6 new releases and not 7 like last time (easier to put in collages). My fave is probably Cocoa but I also like Chilli. These are 2 I will definitely wear again.

If my calculations are correction Barry M have released 16 new Gelly Hi-Shines this year (3 Muted Pastels, Summer Gelly's and these 6 Tribal Gelly's), so we've been really spoilt. I kind of feel like these are more Autumn toned and therefore not really fitting for winter. A little part of me is hoping that Barry M will release another small 3 or 4 polish capsule collection to add to the Gelly Hi-Shine range for winter, like they did back at the start of the year in February, ooh maybe with a white, deep forest green and red in. Either way I know that their new 'foil' top limited edition nail paints will be on the way soon (judging by past years) and that's exciting enough.

I bought these from Superdrug for £3.99 each but you can also buy them from Boots and from the Barry M website.
