Barry M Spring 2015 Comparison Post

Sunday, 1 February 2015

With the addition of any new colours into a brands range, the inevitable question on the lips of many is 'are they any different'?

Before I had even posted swatches of the new Gellys, many had asked via Instagram if Cotton was any different to Coconut. The simple answer is yes. The same sort of comparison was needed last year between Barry M's Blue Grape and Damson (see post here). A brand like Barry would not release a new nail paint identical to a previous one, however I know that what most people were asking was 'is it different enough that I need both'?

For me this answer is always a resounding YES. Barry M is the brand I covet, I have scoured ebay, online stores, depop and even boot sales for old and discontinued polishes. When there are new releases I have stalked shops, rummaged through crates and even gone in those draws underneath the displays to see if the shop has them in early. Yes I know #crazypolishlady.

The crazy Barry M nail paint comparison swatch pile.

For those of you who are not so weirdly obsessed with Barry M nail paints as me, here is a quick comparison of the new colours with older, similar ones. If there is any comparison you'd like to see, which I haven't included, just message below and I'll add it in. I won't do any cross brand comparisons right now, so only Barry M ones.

  3. Haha I'm with you on rummaging through the display drawers in the shops! People look at me like I'm crazy but who has time to explain all this to the assistants! And I'm glad to see there's lots of variation in the new shades. I will admit I didn't think much of the Speedys at first glance as I thought they might be repeats but yay another shade of mint green :)

    1. Glad it's not just me, the assistants don't seem to realise how important it is to get the products asap. I was surprised how different all the shades were, I couldn't find any near some of the colours. The muted mint green is very pretty.
