Barry M Summer '15 Gelly Hi-Shine Sugar Plum Swatches & Review

Friday, 15 May 2015

Barry M has released 7 new colour for Summer '15, 6 Speedy Quick Dry colours (review here) and 1 new Gelly Hi-Shine nail paint called Sugar Plum and it's that which I have to show you today.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Sugar Plum Nail Paint

The Gelly Hi-Shine range saw 3 new colours released for Spring '15 (review here) and this new shade compliments them perfectly. It's amazing that Barry M can still find colours to release but this new Gelly is unlike anything Barry M have for sale at the minute.

Sugar Plum is a bright lilac toned pink. This Gelly has an amazing formula, it's not as thick as the usual Gelly's which makes application a lot easier. I needed 2 thin coats for full coverage and topped it with a coat of Plumpy. I found it looks a tad darker on the nail than in the bottle so just bear that in mind.

It should be noted that back in 2010 Boots released a limited edition Barry M polish that's very similar to Sugar Plum. As you can see they are very similar, however Sugar Plum is much more pink and a lot darker.

With the addition of Sugar Plum to the Gelly Hi-Shade range it now totals 38. I love this range so much and am sure that Barry M will add plenty more colours to it.

You can buy Sugar Plum for £3.99 from BarryM.com (international delivery), Superdrug and Boots stores nationwide

Back at the beginning of the year, Barry M released a new collection of 9 Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paints (review here) and last week they added to it by releasing 6 new brighter, summer editions.

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Summer Nail Paint Collection

There are 3 cremes and 3 shimmers (think Models Own Diamond Luxe shimmer - its gorgeous) in this new collection, I am pleased to see a bright yellow in the line up as well as the different finish.

First up is On Your Marks, a bright lemon yellow creme. I found the formula of this tricky to work with but managed a good finish after 3 coats, I added Plumpy topcoat to finish.

Need For Speed is a gorgeous deep lavender purple creme. I loved the formula of this polish and needed 2 carefully applied coats for full coverage finished with Plumpy topcoat.

Get Set Go is a hot pink creme. I needed 2 coats for full coverage and used Plumpy topcoat to finish.

Supersonic is a stunning royal blue with pink shimmer. It's quite a sheer polish so I used 3 coats and topped it with Plumpy.

So there you go, this collection is a sweetie style pick n' mix delight for you nails. I adore each of the colours but Turbo Charged has to be my fave, it's the perfect shimmery shade for summer.

You can buy these from BarryM.com, Superdrug & Boots stores nationwide for £3.99 each and I urge you to go and make these part of your collection.

Which one is your fave? Are you loving the Speedy Dry range?

Mrs Cross' Nail Shop How Romantic Collection - Swatches & Review

Saturday, 9 May 2015

PR Sample
Mrs Cross' Nail Shop is a UK indie company, run by Leanne. Her 5 free nail polishes are sold on eBay and Etsy and today I have her new collection to show you. I love the collections that indie sellers create and Leanne's new 'How Romantic' collection is no exception. This 5 piece consists of 3 pearly shimmers, a shimmery creme and a glitter, all of which represent a different Romantic Trait. I want to thank Leanne for sending me full sized bottles as I am bound to want to use these again and again.

Mrs Cross' Nail Shop 'How Romantic' Collection

Immediately I thought of valentines day and weddings, the colour palette exudes 'love' and the soft pearly shimmers remind me of silky fabrics. It's perfect for girly girls or those wishing to soften up their nail game for the summer.

Ethereal Romantic is a soft lilac shimmery pearl. Although it appears to be very thin on the first coat, this polish quickly builds and after 3 coats its perfect. It has a frosty finish, which some don't like, however for me it suits the polish.

Blossoming Romantic is a soft pink tinged shimmery pearly white. Again the formula is on the thin side, so 3/4 coats are needed to build up the colour. However application is easy and it dries reasonably quickly. This would be perfect for any bride to be who wants a stunning shade to compliment their dress.

Blushing Romantic is a peachy/pink blush with a golden shimmer. I couldn't really see the shimmer on my nails, however it looks gorgeous in the bottle and would be amazing if it was stronger. I used 2, smooth coats for full coverage.

Gilded Romantic is an amazing golden/bronze glitter in a blush base. I love this glitter, its super pretty, makes your nails sparkle like a million fairy lights and compliments the collection perfectly. I used 2 coats for full coverage. *side note, the brush with this polish is amazing. It's bigger and flatter than the others and I love it.

Lastly is Intense Romantic, a deep crimson shimmery pearl, with a hint of pink. I was a little surprised that this polish was so thin as it appears so rich in the bottle. However this didn't matter one bit as it applied beautifully and built up perfectly like the other 2 shimmery pearls in 3 coats.

You can buy the whole collection for £26, or individually for £5.90 for a 10ml bottle on Etsy here as well as lots of other nail art supplies via the Mrs Cross' Nail Shop on eBay here. I highly recommend this collection, it's beautiful and my top picks are Blushing Romantic and Gilded Romantic.

Collection Nail Polish - New Up To 7 Day Wear & Long Lasting Nail Effects Nail Polish Review & Swatches

Thursday, 7 May 2015

PR Sample

Phew, that is a hell of a title, but a big post deserves a big introduction. Prepare yourself for a colour overload!

Last Monday I gave you a sneak peek (here) at the new Collection nail polishes that were released yesterday (6th May) in Superdrug stores.

Collection have relaunched their main line of nail colours and reformulated them so that they are now longer lasting. As the name suggests, they can last up to 7 days, although this will depend on lots of factors including activity, application and natural nail chemistry, hence the 'Up To' bit.

In total 27 new 'Up To 7 Day Wear' nail colours and '7 Long Lasting Nail Effects' polishes have been released and I have swatches of them all to show you.

Now I don't have individual swatches of them I'm afraid, the perfectionist in me wanted to be able to show you 34 beautiful '4 finger' swatches of these polishes, but the realist in me warned that this would take too long. However I did want to show you all of these colours, but what to do ... what to do.

For the sake of my sanity and social life, I finally decided to swatch 1 colour per nail but take a photo with each bottle, the perfect solution. As always I swatched in numerical order and this is how I've laid them out for you in this post. I used the new Collection 2in1 Top & Base coat with all the swatches of the colours (as a base & top coat) but not with the last 7 (the Nail Effects).

1. White Out, 2. Touch Of Pink, 3. Soft Rose, 4. Pink Cadillac

All together now;

Collection Cosmetics new Up To 7 Day Wear & Long Lasting Nail Polish

I have long been a fan of Collection, their polishes are great quality and their range of colours is amazing. I haven't yet tested out how long they last on my nails, but I will update you later on that if I ever get the chance to wear a single polish for more than 20 minutes.

I can however, see myself using these to create lots of nail art, so keep an eye out for some fancy mani's and nail tutorials soon.

The Up To 7 Day Wear Nail Polishes (numbers 1-27) are priced at £1.99 each and the Long Lasting Nail Effects (numbers 28-34) are priced at £2.99 each. ... crazy prices!

You can buy these now from Superdrug Stores or from the 13th May in Boots stores.

What do you think of these colours? Have you ever tried Collection polishes? Which is your fave one?
