Barry M's Summer 2016 Superdrug & Boots Limited Edition Nail Paints

Sunday mornings are lovely and quiet in my house. The windows get opened wide, tea is made by the gallon and I either eat something really healthy (fruit salad) or something not so healthy (croissants). I also like to get my blog posts for the week typed up. Now you may be forgiven for thinking that my blog has turned into some kind of Barry M fan site, after all the last few posts featured Barry M products and so do my next 3/4. This is all just a happy coincidence and in my opinion you can never have too much Barry M.

On Friday I posted an overview of all the new Barry M Summer 2016 products and asked what you'd like to see swatches of first, the limited editions from Superdrug & Boots won. So today that's what I've got for you.

Barry M Summer 2016 Limited Edition Nail Paints

First up are the two Superdrug limited edition shades and these have a gorgeous golden crushed metal style lid.
Although these look gorgeous in the bottle, the shimmer you see doesn't translate well on the nail. Also because the shimmer is metallic, it does something very strange to the formula.

Barry M Superdrug Limited Edition Nail Paints

Festival Fever is a lovely bubblegum pink with golden shimmer. The formula of this is very pigmented and applies well. Due to the amount of golden shimmer this polish contains, it dries semi-matte. While it's semi-matte you can see the shimmer in strong direct light. However pop a topcoat on and it pretty much disappears. I used 3 thin coats for this swatch, no topcoat.

Carnival Couture is a nude with silver shimmer. The formula is well pigmented but the metallic shimmer causes it to apply streaky, however you can get over this by using thicker coats. The silver shimmer doesn't translate as you'd expect on the nail, you can't really see the shimmer and it makes the polish dry with a PVC like finish (I can't describe it any other way).
A lot of my photos showed this nude as a grey because of the silver but all of them had one thing in common - the shine. Oh wow, this polish was super glossy! I would have preferred than Carnival Couture have the same golden shimmer that Festival Fever has as it's a warmer, summery feel. I used 2 thick coats for this swatch, no topcoat.

Both of these nail paints are available now from Superdrug priced at £3.99 each.

The next two from Boots are my faves. There's no denying these two look sexy together, but on their own they're just as amazing. They also suit the summer vibe a little more than the others and would flatter any tan perfectly. Like the Superdrug nail paints, these have a crushed metal style lid but it's rose gold (love this so much).

Barry M Boots Limited Edition Nail Paints

Golden Sands is a stunning pinky/nude with golden glass fleck. It applies a little sheer on the first coat but evens out by the second. It dries matte, as you can see below and the more coats you apply, the more beautiful the finish becomes as the layers build up.

Beachy Keen is a tan creme. It applies as dreamy as the Coconut Infusion collection polishes, review here. I used 2 coats for the picture below, no topcoat

These nail paints launch on the 11th May in Boots stores and are priced at £3.99 each.

What are your thoughts on these colours? Do you have a favourite?

Golden Sands is my overall fave, so much so I am going to grab a back up bottle when I'm next in Boots. Also please can we add this golden glass fleck to a ton of other Barry M colours? ... pretty please.

Make sure you get these colours sooner rather than later, as they're limited edition I don't expect them to be around come the autumn.

Those are 2 pretty colours. I'd also grab Golden Sands because it's so much better in real life.

  4. Ooooh, I'm liking Festival Fever and Peachy Keen. The way you describe how the pink one dries semi matte but yet has the shimmer in it sounds like the Sinful Colors range which Kylie Jenner brought out in the Trend Matters Velvet range. The ones I've tried so far are not streaky at all. I'll have to do a proper swatch session with them some time.

    1. Thanks Helen, I love swatching Barry M's colours as they're so gorgeous!
Never having too many Barry M's is what's lead to my bank account always being so empty! Haha.
