ASDA George Gellies Polishes

Saturday, 23 July 2016

Ok so I may have said that my next post was going to be the Models Own Soft Pops, but I forgot all about this one (forgive me).

A few weeks ago while shopping in ASDA I decided to have a browse at their cosmetics stand and these 'Gellies' polishes caught my eye.

You may remember around about 2 years ago I reviewed ASDA's fruit crush textured polishes and since then I have a peek every now and then to see if there's anything fun. Well I can tell you that my heart did a little leap when it saw these (any polish lover will know that feeling) because
ever since I reviewed Barry M's Lolly Gloss collection I have been wanting them to create some extra colours. Well seeing as that's not going to happen I've been looking for substitutes and it seems like ASDA has answered my prayers.

Now I didn't get the whole collection as I already have a red and purple but I did pick up the Teal Blue (Fruit Cocktail) and Yellow (Sour Lemon). Like the Barry M Lolly Gloss, these have a jelly finish and a slight sweet candy smell when dry.

Fruit Cocktail is a gorgeous blue (teal blue) and irl actually appears a lot more green toned, but unfortunately my camera wouldn't capture that colour without turning my fingers green. I used 3 thin coats and no topcoat for the swatch below and you can see how shiny and smooth the finish is.

Sour Lemon is a gorgeous sunshine yellow, it's slightly less pigmented than Fruit Cocktail so does appear more jelly like. Again I used 3 thin coats and no topcoat for the swatch.

Overall these are great and I'm so happy to add these new jellys to my collection (I'm already dreaming up gorgeous nail art designs to create similar to this one here but with extra colours), the formula is easy to use and the thin brush doesn't affect application. If you're interested in these, you can pick them up in store in ASDA priced at £3 each.

What do you think of these kind of polishes? Any other supermarket polishes I should be aware of?

    1. I saw those in Superdrug and they look so pretty, however the colours are very similar to the Barry M ones I have. I will look at them again though :)

    1. I am a 'buy all the polish' type of gal, so leaving some behind in the shop is very restrained on my part!! :) xx
