Models Own Soft Pop Collection

Wednesday, 27 July 2016

Happy Wednesday everyone, Today I have the long awaited Soft Pop collection from Models Own. I received this collection from my boyfriend for my birthday (see my 2016 birthday blog post here) and I have been so excited to try them out.

Models Own launched this collection to coincide with their new beauty range back in May. As soon as I saw them I knew I needed them, I have a weakness for Models Own and these pastel neon polishes are stunning.

Lemon Popsicle is a very light yellow neon creme, in some lights it almost leans slightly green. The formula was good but because it's a yellow I used 3 thin coats for full coverage and topped with Hypergel topcoat.

Cosy Posy is a beautiful neon pistachio green creme. I used 3 thin coats (although 2 thicker coats would have been good too) and one coat of Hypergel topcoat for the swatch.

Sugar Rush (anyone else singing the song from Wreck It Ralph? .. no, just me then) is a pastel sky blue creme. I used 2 coats with 1 coat of Hypergel topcoat for the swatch.

Lilac Flush is a pinky lavender creme and it has the best formula out of the bunch. It's also the most pigmented which means that 2 thin coats is all that's needed for full coverage. I added 1 coat of Hypergel topcoat, this polish def needs the added shine as it dries quite dull.

Candyfloss is a neon baby pink creme. I found this the most difficult to work with formula wise and in the end applied 4 coats and still had some streaks. This could be due to my application so I'm going to try and apply it again later and see what happens. I added a very thick layer of Hypergel topcoat so try and smooth out any streaks.

I have to say I love these polishes and the fact they come with flat brushes (a move we've seen many brands take over the last year or so) is amazing. As far as faves go, I've based this purely on the formulas, so Lilac Flush and Sugar Rush are stand outs for me.

These soft pops make such a great addition to the Hypergel range, in fact Models Own have been missing colours like this in general. The only downside is that the lids don't match all the other polishes in the extended Hypergel range. I was told this was because Models Own wanted the collection to match the newer beauty range, a perfectly valid point.

If you're interested (and who wouldn't be), you can buy these now at Models Own online and in Bottleshops priced at £4.99 each.

So what are your thoughts on this collection? Do you like the colours?
I have some good Models Own news, the new Polish For Tans collection is on it's way to me, so stay tuned for swatches of those soon.

Vicky xx

  1. Ooooooh these are lovely! Sugar Rush is my fave (surprise surprise!). Perfect swatches as always xx

    1. Haha, it's such a gorgeous blue. I honestly need to do a 'top 5 Blues' blog post as there are some stunning ones this year xx

  2. I love these colours, sugar rush is gorgeous!

    1. They're amazing & I agree that Sugar Rush is gorgeous 💙

  3. Lovely post (as usual)! You're rocking these colors and you'd never know any struggling with formula happened, so it's good you mention it for those looking to purchase.

    1. Thank you so much 😘 You're always so kind. I was unsure about mentioning it as generally once a photo is taken it looks fine, however it's important to note that I did struggle. Maybe it was me though, maybe I just didn't apply it correctly, that's why I said I'd try again xx
