Primark PS Gel Effect AW16 Review

Saturday, 15 October 2016

Happy Saturday, I hope you've had a lovely day. I started mine off by having a long chatty breakfast catch up with an amazing friend. Then I popped to Waitrose and finally found some Mr Kiplings Fiendish Fancies on sale (omg I am totally addicted to these). I've spent the afternoon having a nice sort out and a long nap. It's been the perfect day.

Today I have a review of the new AW16 Primark Gel Effect colours, which I admit feels very weird, as it seems like only last week I was showing you their Spring Gels.

Primark have released a whole host of new colours for AW (see my AW Nail Mail and Haul post here for more pictures). There is obviously a deeper tone and feel to the colours and a lot of them are so pretty and unique. The 4 new Gels are stunning and I can not rave enough about the formula and price point. The only down side is the slightly pongy smell to these polishes, a very inconsequential detail when you consider the host of plus points. You have to look carefully for the name on the label, but it's there and thankfully it's more inventive than previous Primark polish names.

Liquorice is a black creme, but this is pretty much a one coater. I say pretty much because it will depend on your application. For one nail I needed a second, only to smooth out a tiny patch. This is def going to become my go to black creme and I already plan on picking up a couple of extra bottles for backup.

Purple Reign is a deep raspberry purple creme. I needed only 2 coats and added a coat of topcoat for the photos.

Feisty is a deep rosewood creme. Again 2 smooth coats was perfect and I added a coat of topcoat for the photos.

Ranger is a deep green creme. I needed only 2 coat and a coat of topcoat.

What do you think of these new Gel shades? Have you tried many colours from Primark?

I am a big fan (as you'll know if you read my blog) and my faves from this new drop are Liquorice and Feisty. If you're interested you can pick these up from Primark stores nationwide priced at £1.50 each.

Vicky xx

    1. Haha, it's a good job that Primark release cheap polish, although I'm always wishing I had more money because so many polishes go unbought that I wish I could have.
Thank you so much, you're so lovely, I adore swatching so much xx
