Models Own Glitterball Collection

PR Sample
Another Monday and another week closer to Christmas (internal cartwheels). I am also only 10 sleeps away from putting my tree up and with the onset of December I am beginning to feel that my nails need to get a little more festive too.

Queue Models Own and their new Glitterball collection. Now unless you've been absent from social media for the past week, you'll know that last Tuesday Models Own announced (very surprisingly) that they were sneaking another new nail polish collection out. I was very excited by this news and even more excited when they turned up on my doorstep later that week.

I love glitter polish but I love it even more at this time of year. Now chuck some 'disco dust' into the mix and you have yourself a holly jolly combo. This new 5 piece is packed full of scattered holographic sparkle (hence the name Glitterball) and what's nice is the colours are suitable for year round wearage.

Now the only point to note is these polishes need layering and with glitter this requires patience. All the polishes have a sheer tinted jelly base that's packed full of holo and silver glitter. I found that many thin coats worked far better than a thick one, and for that reason all my swatches are either 2 or 3 coats, no topcoat (see individual polishes for details). You can of course wear a topcoat with these for added shine, however I wanted to show what they look like as they come. Another thing you could do is layer these over a coloured base, the options then would only be limited by your imagination (and polish collection).

Glitz n Glam has an icy blue base. The silver and holo glitter work perfectly in this polish and I'm pretty sure if Snowladies got manicures, they'd choose this colour. I needed 2 coats.

The Precious (did anyone else say that with a Gollum accent?) has a clear base which allows the silver and holo glitters to shine perfectly. This is stunning and I used 3 thin coats.

Showbiz has a stormy grey base and I can't see a polish like this without thinking of the starry night sky. I used 3 thin coats.

Fine Flicker has a beautiful golden base and is the most Christmassy polish from the bunch. I used 2 thin coats.

Tinsel Town has a gorgeous blush pink jelly base. I can't help but love this colour and actually wish Models Own did a lipgloss in this shade to match. I used 3 thin coats.

I love love LOVE them and although it's very difficult to pick faves, I think that Glitz n Glam and Fine Flicker win out for me. No one needs an excuse for donning insane amounts of glitter at Christmas and lets be honest, if it isn't the one time of year to let your nails sparkle as crazily as your bedecked tree, you're doing it wrong.

So what do you think of these new colours? Do you have a fave? I know they aren't typically Christmassy but they are super gorgeous. It really wouldn't have been a problem for me if this collection was full of traditional festive shades, in fact I'm hoping Models Own will one year release a distinctively Christmas collection (I've totally got the whole 5 piece mapped out and will happy offer up my services as creative director).

You can pick up these polishes from Models Own's website and Bottleshops priced at £4.99 each, however if you wait and shop via their website between Thursday 24th November 2016 to Monday 28th November 2016, you can receive up to 70% off in their Black Friday sale when you buy 5 or more items (I'm already planning to grab the Holochrome collection and a few Twilight Hypergels I need, let me know what you plan to get).

  2. I finished swatching them yesterday and I've still got Tinsel Town on. I'm not a huge pink polish wearer but I've fallen in love with it. It's the holo that makes it. I've fallen hard for this entire collection lol Great swatches as always Vicky!
