Happy Sunday, hope you've had a lovely weekend. Did you get up to anything nice? Today I have another Great Nail Art Ideas challenge and this time the prompt is New Year, New You.
One thing I do at the start of the year, thanks to The Happiness Planner, is identify traits and features of myself, that I want to improve/change.
One thing I struggle massively with is sticking to what I know and not just giving things a try. Even something new that is very simple, will involve a massive amount of research, preparation and major anxiety before I attempt it. Why you may wonder? Well the reason is I am a perfectionist and this plagues my life constantly. I have a tendency to freeze and retreat when faced with things I feel I may not 'win' at and therefore never give them a go. If I do give things a go and the result isn't absolute perfection (photoshopped Vogue standard perfection) I am so hard on myself that it tends to be weeks, if not months before I attempt it again.
So with that in mind, I decided to be more spontaneous and 'just give things a go' more often, one of which was nail foils. Now I purchased a set of foils on ebay (in 2015 I think), not realising that they needed a special glue to work. Once I ordered that and it arrived, it sat unused in my Helmer for about 6 months. When I spotted it the other day, I slapped my big girl pants on and just went for it (no notes, no research and only a hint of anxiety).
I used Primark 'Romance' as the base (I had swatched it and loved the colour) and then selected a silver holo nail foil that I thought would contrast well with the pinky tones.
Now the result isn't amazing (I think it looks a little scratchy) but the fact that I don't think it's perfect and am still posting it means that my 'New Me' approach is working. I know that there are so many options when working with foils and now I've dabbled my toe, I'm looking forward to trying them again.
Let me know your thoughts on this look? Also where are some good places to get some more foils?
