Meebox December 2016 - No Place Like Home

Friday, 6 January 2017

Happy Friday, have you all had a great week? I'm glad to be back to a semblance of normality now that January is in full flow, however I'm still not doing very well and have found this week very challenging on a personal level. Thank goodness I have this blog to escape to.

Today I've got a review of Decembers Meebox which was titlted 'No Place Like Home'. This bumper Christmas box had a whopping 7 items in it and each was perfectly suited to the Wizard of Oz theme.
Inside it had 3 polishes, a MoYou stamping plate and stamper, some NCLA nail wraps and a nail and cuticle oil. All these items are beautiful and the polishes are perfect, as far as contents goes, this box is a total stand out this year.

The polishes were so apt for the theme and I love all of them. They're also all full sized and of a good quality. I am so impressed that there's a Leighton Denny and a Zoya in the same box. I've not heard of Kure Bazaar before but the quality of both the bottle and polish is amazing.

Leighton Denny - Jailbird (RRP £12)
This is a peacock teal with silver metallic shimmer polish that has the most perfect of formulas and although it's not quite 'emerald', its very fitting for the theme, I adore this colour so much that I kept it on and painted the other 6 fingers with it. I needed 2 coats for this swatch.

Kure Bazaar - Pigalle (RRP £14)
It wouldn't be right for a nail box, themed around The Wizard of Oz to not feature a polish based on Dorothy's slippers. Pigalle is a stunning Red hex glitter in a clear base. I used 3 coats for this swatch, although would have acheived full coverage if I had used the sponge technique to apply the polish (but I really CBA).

Zoya - Goldie (RRP £11.50)
This yellow gold with golden metallic shimmer is glorious. I used 2 coats for this swatch.

MoYou Stamping Plate & Stamper (RRP £5.99 & £2.99)
This plate is number 12 in the Fairy Tale series and features the cutest images of Dorothy and all her Oz pals. I can not wait to use this to create some nail art and the stamper will come in handy as a spare.

NCLA Gingham Nail Wraps (RRP £13)
These light blue, picnic basket, gingham wraps are beautiful. I've not tried them yet but when I do, I'll let you know what I think.

'Ard As Nails - Cuticle Oil (RRP £5)
This is perfect and I love everything about it. The size, the lipgloss style applicator and the scent (which is still a mystery to me, it reminds me of tropical flowers but I can't quite figure it out).

So there we have it, this box certainly was a treat and the perfect present to finish off 2016 with from the lovely ladies over at Meebox. I can hardly believe that it was packed with nearly £65 worth of goodies, makes the £20 subscription fee seem like a real bargain. If you fancy getting the next box, which is themed 'Galentines', sign up here.

I'm incredibly sad to say that I will not be able to buy any more boxes, my budget strings have been tightened and 2016 is the year I get a bit 'real' about my finances, which means that this will be my final review. However it was a perfect box to go out on and I know that I will enjoy reading all about the 2017 boxes from Marta over at Furious Filer and seeing the talented Rebecca's (aka @baby_mama_nails) pictures over on IG (they're Meeboxes ambassadors.

Let me know what you think about this box? Do you like the colours?

Vicky xx

  1. Gorgeous swatches! I absolutely loved this box so it's fab to hear you liked it too! It's a shame you can't stay subscribed, I love seeing your posts :( xx

    1. It was a perfect box, shame they can't be like this every month :)
Thank you Becca, that means a lot, however there are lots of amazing nail ladies that get the boxes (you included). I love your reviews xx

  2. Pigalle looks so amazing!! The stamping plate looks fun too x

    1. It is amazing, I'm so rubbish at capturing glitter polishes but it doesn't shine so much. I've not used the plate yet but I think it's going to be fab, MoYou generally are xx
