Primark Swatch Catch Up - Part 1

Thursday, 26 January 2017

This post has been 6 months in the making and I am equally relieved and excited to show you these swatches. I have long since loved the formula and colour range of Primark's polishes and so pick up new ones whenever I pop into a store.

Before I knew it, I had a massive swatch pile of 25 and that kind of pressure overwhelmed me. I just kept ignoring them, hoping that at some point a swatch elf would turn up in the night and get them photographed for me.

As that never happened, I started to work on the pile and finally, this week, I had them completed. I have split them up into 4 posts and over the next week or so I will be bringing you a review of them all.

Ballerina
As you can see from the picture, this polish it turned out was open, and had dried up into a gloopy, cement like mess while it waited for months to be swatched (on a side note, there should be another circle in hell for people who open polish in shops and then leave it). I added a little Seche Restore, but nothing short of a miracle would sort this out. Not to be deterred by such a tiny thing as solid polish, I managed to get a horrid swatch of this gorgeous colour. I am going to look out for a replacement as this 2 coat beauty is the perfect pinky nude for me.

Bonfire
This oxblood colour is so beautiful and the formula is great. I needed 2 coats for full coverage. Strange note, this colour came out looking more muted (see the bottle), but when I applied a topcoat, the colour brightened and seemed to complete change. Very weird.

Butterscotch
This orange toned mustard is stunning and although I don't normally like these kind of shades, this one stood out for me and I am a little in love. Again 2 coats was all I needed.

Chianti
Like it's wine namesake, this vino inspired colour is simple a beaut and after swatching this, I realised this may be my favourite tone of red. I needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Colbalt
This deep blue creme is lovely, 2 coats and a perfect formula.

First Date
Is a pale pink with tiny silver glitter/shimmer inbedded in it. I love this polish so much, and like the rest, it needed 2 coats.

Green Goddess
This looks almost black the green is so dark. I needed 2 coats for full coverage.

What are your thoughts on these colours? I have to admit to loving Primark's polish range and although the smell and cheap brush are major downsides, the price point, formula and colours more than make up for it.

If you're interested in trying out some of Primark's polishes, pop in store and pick them up as prices start as low as 80p a bottle (these shown here were all 80p each).

Let me know you're fave and if you're interested in the rest of the colours to come, here's a collage of all 25.

    2. Yes that would be so bright and bold and gorgeous. Even a simple dotting main with these colours would look lovely. Even these colours on nails with a simple outfit would look so statement xx

  2. Your swatch pile sounds very similar to mine! It's so disappointing those elves don't turn up isn't it haha! These are all lovely, especially Ballerina. I love the Primark PS polishes, they're always lovely colours and a great price too. X

    1. Haha, yes this was just my Primark pile too. I have boxes of polishes I need to swatch. Oh well, I love them xx

  3. 25 polishes is definitely an overwhelming amount! These look like great colours. Shame about the brushes though. I avoid polishes with terrible brushes, even if the colour is nice. I just find I don't use them.

    1. I thought they'd bug me more than they do, however I do find myself reaching for them a lot. Esp as they're such good formula and they're perfect as bases.

  4. That's a shame about Ballerina, it's such a pretty shade. I keep finding my eyes drawn back to Butterscotch though! Our local Primark has never seems to have much nail polish in, I keep checking in hope!

    1. It's so unfair that so many people don't have well stocked Primark's, they need to sort that out. Everyone should have access to these gorgeous colours xx

  5. That Butterscotch just wins my heart!! It's really a good thing the nearest store to me is 616 km away, otherwise I would buy the shelf of them. LOL. I also like Chianti (especially well suited to you!!) and Cobalt. Looking forward to see the other colors.

    1. Haha, that's how I felt when I saw that the Irish Primark has different colours. I seriously wish you could get hold of this colour, it's gorgeous. However you have so many beautiful polishes, I'm sure you can find one similar xx
