Sometimes I get emails from companies that really excite me and when elliona contacted me asking if I would like to try out their at home gel and glitter polish removal product I was very excited.

If any of you have worn a gel manicure, you know how amazing it all is. The instantly dry nails, the never ending shine, the long lasting, chip free colour. Yes it really is a dream. Well that is until it comes to removing the stuff.

Nail technicians and home diy-ers alike will know just how tedious the removal process is, approx 15 minutes are needed while your gel soaks off in a removal product (acetone or similar). 15 - boring - minutes.

Even after the 15 mins the job isn't always done. I have to admit, the whole removal process does prevent me wanting to wear Gels more often, even when going on holiday. As far as I'm concerned, spending time removing the gels feels like a waste, prolonged and repeated exposure to large amounts of acetone can cause contact dermatitis and it can also soak into your nails causing them to become dry, brittle and flakey.

Thanks to elliona, this is no longer the case! The removal process couldn't be simpler.

Step 1 - buff away the shine of the nail.

Step 2 - twist the cap and squeeze some gel onto the nail, covering all parts of the gel polish, but make sure it doesn't touch the skin.

Step 3 - allow the gel to activate for 1 minute, wait for it to go cloudy and then use the removal tool to gently assist the removal process.

Step 4 - buff away any remaining polish (I did not need this step).

Where has this product been my whole life (well the last couple of years anyway).

I found it a complete game changer and it worked even more amazingly than I thought. It honestly took minutes to remove a whole hand of gels (you can do up to 3 nails at a time) and both my nails and finger skin (ewww) were better for not being exposed to acetone/gel polish remover.

If you're a independently run nail business or work in a salon, you'll want to trial this product. If you're an at home gel DIY-er, you'll want to invest in this product.

I'd go as far as to say that using elliona is as easy as removing regular polish! Talking of which you can use this product to remove regular glitter polish, however I probably won't use it for that as I always wear a peel off base coat when using glitter. However if you don't, this may be your glitter removal saviour.

Nuff said!

If you're interested in buying elliona Gel Off you can purchase it direct from the elliona website (which is american) or from QVC in a set (like I have) priced at £19.95 plus p&p.

Let me know what you think about this product. Do you wear at home gels and would you be interested in trying this? Don't forget to share and recommend to the nail technician in your life.

  1. Wow! This looks awesome, I hate how long it takes to remove gels!

    1. Me too! This really is awesome. I was not expecting it to work as well as it did!! Completely converted!

  2. Oh wow! I've never worn any gel ever but I can see how popular this will become for those who do. Your nails look great. They always look great but god damage is being kept to a minimum xx

  3. As and when you do have a gel mani, this product is I'll be what removes it! It's incredible and will def help to protect your nails!! xx

  4. Do you think this product will also help in removing full on tips? No acrylic on top

    1. No I would have thought so, this product is designed to breakdown gel polish only and not plastic tips. The only way to remove those would be using a solvent like acetone to dissolve the glue or using an e-file to get rid of them.

  5. Great review! I also reviewed it or tried to lol I found it didn't work for me and I had to do an excessive amount of scraping an it wouldn't budge! I even filled most of the polish off and it still didn't work :( I really wanted it to work for me. I didn't review it in the end as I was happy with the fact that I could have easily damaged my nails if I didn't know what I was doing. Maybe I will try it again with different gel. Xx

    1. Oh no, now I'm wondering if I didn't try it out thoroughly. I found I needed minimal scrapping but I did file a lot with a very course file so that the surface was really broken. How old was your Gel when you tried to remove it.
I'm sure your experience was fair, I'll try it again and can always do an edit xx

    2. The mani I had on was about 3 weeks old. I'm going to give it another go soon as I really wanted it to work! X

    3. Wow that is amazing &a very old. I will try with an older one as this was no where near that old! If I find it only works with newer gel, I'll edit that in xx

  6. Great review Vicky!
    Tracy xx

  7. I also struggled with this. Must have spent an hour on it, doing one nail at a time and very much felt as though I was basically scratching & scraping the polish off. My gels were about six weeks old, very grown out & I just didn't have a convenient slot to go to the nail bar, so I was hoping this would be the answer. Instead, I think it is a plan B for emergencies, especially if you don't want fresh polish immediately. I now plan to spend a few weeks pampering my nails with treatments before I have gels again as I feel I've bashed them about a bit with this.
