Primark Holographic Glitter Nail Polish Review

Tuesday, 30 May 2017

Another day and another Primark post. I hope you all caught up with my Summer Classic Nail Polish post from yesterday. I almost combined this and yesterdays but I felt these shinnies (as I call them because of their chrome mirror lids) deserved their own special post.

Now I will address the elephant in the room - these are not holographic. I know that the incorrect use off the term holographic seems to annoy the pants of people, however it doesn't bother me. I think us nail obsessives sometimes forget that the rest of the world isn't as clued up on specific nail terminology and for that, I just brush it off. No one's got time for that!

Before I show you any swatches I should point out that these are glitter toppers and will therefore look different over different bases. I chose base colours that were similar to the tint in the bottle but I honestly think they'd look amazing over any colour.

Unicorn Dreams
I wore 1 coat of this over a very pale blue polish base. If you're only interesting in buying one, grab this one as it contains a bunch of clear iridescent flakies in a clear base and will look amazing over all polish bases.

Here it is mattified and I promise, in real life it's so much prettier than these photos show.

Pixie Dust
This topper is full of pastel coloured iridescent flakies and iridescent glitter topper in a very pale pink base. I suppose this could be worn on it's own, but you'd never build up the base so it was opaque. I wore 1 coat over Raspberry Ripple and love the combination.

And of course, here it is with matte topcoat.

Mermaid Tears
Now this polish is slightly different to the others. It contains sheer iridescent glitters and blue flakie shards in a blue tinted base. I wore 1 coat over Purple Grape for this swatch.

Mattified it looks lovely and you can see the glitters a lot clearer.

In reality the base tint of these polishes is so weak that you prob don't need all of them, but if you're like me, that won't prevent you from getting them all.

I purchased some Primark shinnies at the end of last year which you can see in my Primark Catch Up Post - Part 4. Here is a collage of all of todays toppers and Star Gazer that was released last year (but I have seen on sale still up until very recently).

If you're interested in buying any of these shinnies, they're on sale in Primark stores nationwide priced at £1.50 each (pricey for Primark but bloody bargainous for all other brands).

Until tomorrow,

Vicky x

  1. These are so pretty, I love them mattified it completely changes the look xx

    1. Me too, I always prefer glitter matte as you can see all the pieces clearer! xx

  2. Oh wow these are gorgeous Everyone loves a shinnie... be it a football sticker, Pokemon card, pog or nail varnish. I love the matte look, they change the colour so much but then again it's not a shinnie if it's matte lol xxx

    1. Haha, they're a shiny because of the lid, not the glitter, but yes, we love a shiny!! I wish I could still collect stickers, ah I remember those days xx

  3. These are so pretty - I particularly love them mattified!
    Tracy xx

  4. Unicorn Dreams is just beautiful and I love it over the blue base

    1. Thank you! I feared I had picked too pale a base to show it off, but I love how it looks xx
