26 GNAI - Water

Friday, 9 June 2017

Happy Friday lovely people. I don't know about you but as we hit the weekend, I'm feeling very autumnal. Casseroles, hot chocolate, jumpers and warm baths are all on the menu this weekend, accompanied by some Disney and a load of carbs. Yes it's June, but the weather this week has been positively 'October' and I for one am kinda loving it.

Today I have another Crumpet's Nail Tarts challenge and I'm actually a little pleased with myself for pulling this one off.

I have spoken about this before but I am not a planner when it comes to mani designs. I sit down at my desk, choose a colour and hope for the best. Occasionally I may have an idea about what technique I want to do or have a specific design detail (like a rhinestone etc) I want to use, but usually I just get started and see what happens.

Because of this I love following challenges, it helps focus my brain and stops me from flailing around wondering what to do. However sometimes I see a prompt and freeze and this happened today with this challenge.

Water is a very realistic theme and as I shy away from creating anything too realistic, I was a little stuck. Thankfully I remembered I had a stamping plate from Hehe that had a water image on it and then used some of my new OPI color paints (yes I was lucky enough to finally get my hands on this collection, it's been on my 'want' list for years and I'm thrilled).

I started with one coat of Turquoise Aesthetic and then dry brushed Indigo Motif over the top. Then I stamped with the water image from Hehe 066 'Ponyo' plate using Moyou white and finished by adding a single layer of Turquoise Aesthetic. I did think about doing another stamping and turquoise layer, but decided that it might ruin the mani and I really couldn't be bothered to potentially have to start again.

Right, well I've rambled on long enough, I hope you like this design. Check out all the other gorgeous water manis below.

I'm off to snuggle up in bed, read a couple of chapters of my book and hope I wake up in Summer tomorrow.

P.s I've stopped adding watermarks to my images as of right now, I have been thinking about it for a while and although I am opening myself to people stealing my images, I think I prefer the more simple look. Plus it saves a step in the editing process and that makes me happy.

  2. This is gorgeous! I love how the polish is a little bit sheer, so it let's the light in and gives it the perfect watery effect! So awesome!
