Primark - PS Nail Candy Polish Review

Friday, 21 July 2017

It's been a while since I've had a Primark post here on my blog, thanks largely to the fact I didn't blog much throughout June, and I don't like it (you know how much of a fan I am). Also I still have 2 of their Trios to post about (see my Bronze Trio and Neon Trio reviews if you haven't) and a trio of metallics they've just released, so you can expect lots more over the coming weeks.

This Nail Candy nail duo was a real surprise for me. I had seen the Cotton Candy collection launch a little while ago but thought it contained only makeup and 3 round bottle polishes which I've not seen a hint of (in Primark stores or on social media). Even the feature on their website mentioned only the lip and eye products. So when I popped into my local Primark recently and saw these 2 new polishes, you can imagine how happy I was.

Like the Precious Metals, Instagirl and Prism collections, these come in small sized, square bottles with cute themed lids. Obviously the pink lid was a massive plus, but then I saw the holo hearts in Charmed and I was smitten.

Both these polishes are what I'd called glitter toppers and will in no way build up to cover your nail completely. I swatched them over pale pinks (to match the lids) but can't for the life of me remember which ones I used now.

Charmed
This polish has a serious valentines/love vibe to it with it's mix of pastel and mid pink hex glitters in mixed sizes and holographic heart glitters, all suspended in a clear base. The hex glitters go onto the nail easy enough, although you may need to place a couple of the larger ones, however the hearts have to be fished out of the bottle and are a real pain to find. The only upside is they are gorgeous on and flash like little rainbows on your nails.

Trippin
This micro and small hex holographic glitter topper is very pretty. It does contain some medium sized hex glitters but I only managed to get 1 of those on my nails. The holographic effect is very pretty and although I didn't capture it, you just have to look at the sparkle in the bottle to see what it really looks like in real life. I applied 1 coat over a pink base coat.

I have to admit I'm loving the continued new trend that Primark is taking with it's polishes (and beauty launches), these glitter mixes are so unique (to the UK high street) that it's always really exciting to see what capsule collection comes out next.

As always with Primark, you have to shop these in store, and they're priced at only £2 each.

I'd love to know your thoughts on these 2 glitters. Do you wear Primark polishes or shop any of their beauty products? If not, why not? (I'm curious).

  1. Those are really cute! I tend to kind of stay away from shaped glitter polishes just because I find that I can never really work them into a design. I really like the holographic hearts though- really cute! The second polish would be one I would find easier to incorporate. I don't think we have that brand of polish in the US though, I've never seen it before! Really lovely swatches, as usual! :)
